Anthony Bele
Chief Operating Officer, Salem Sports Events and Salem Design Build
Age: 37
Business address: 1519 S. Martin Luther King Junior Drive, Winston-Salem
Why selected: As chief operating officer, Bele leads Salem Sports Events and oversees multi-site manufacturing, logistics and large-scale installations for global clients such as the PGA Tour, Formula One and other major brands. He drives operational excellence, scales capacity and manages cross-functional teams for complex, high-profile projects.
The Triad is... A region with tremendous momentum – energized by entrepreneurship and strengthened by communities that genuinely care about one another. A great place to build a business and raise a family.
What is the Triad lacking? A large headquarters or anchor employer (aside from healthcare) that's deeply invested in growing the region; one that attracts talent, sparks innovation, creates offshoot businesses, and lifts the entire community. The ingredients are here; we just need that flagship presence to accelerate the momentum.
How do you approach a situation when you don't know what to expect? I listen first, get the key context quickly, and then identify the simplest next action that creates clarity. Taking a thoughtful first step builds momentum and helps the team move forward with confidence.

The last thing you obsessed over? Planning the next phase of our company's growth and mapping out our strategy, capacity, facilities, and talent to support where we're headed. At the same time, driving our team to ensure 100% on-time delivery, which is critical in the live event space where we serve partners like the PGA Tour and F1.
A time you were almost famous: I've never had a moment where I was truly close to being famous, but the access we get in the live event space can make it feel that way. For example, being inside the US Team Cabin that we designed and built for Ryder Cup gives you a small glimpse into a world most people only see on TV.
Your most meaningful volunteer activity? Flying relief missions to communities in the North Carolina mountains after Hurricane Helene. The coordination, generosity, and urgency of everyone involved was incredible and a reminder of how strong our communities can be when people come together.
Suprising fact about yourself? I'm an instrument-rated pilot with nearly 1,000 hours of flight time accumulated over the past 15 years.
